I'm a dad of four — soon to be five — so I've spent a ridiculous amount of time thinking about what makes a campground actually good for kids. Not just good on paper, but good in the messy, loud, beautiful way families really need.
I built The Point Campground & Farm with that in mind. Because I didn't want to visit a park where I had to worry every time my kids ran off to say hi to a neighbor's dog or pedaled their bikes down the lane.
Kid-friendly Starts With Safety
A pretty pond and a slide aren't enough if you don't feel comfortable letting your kids wander. That's why the first thing we focused on wasn't an amenity — it was the community.
We Screen Our Residents
This is Lake Cumberland, not a highway rest stop. We actually talk to people before they move in. We get a feel for who they are, whether they respect neighbors, and whether they're going to add to the community — or chip away at it. The result is a park of families, retirees, and couples who largely want the same thing: a quiet, respectful place to call home on weekends.
That translates directly to safety. Your kids will be riding bikes past RVs occupied by people who were intentionally invited into the community, not whoever wandered in off the highway.
Low Traffic, Wide Paths
We kept our park small on purpose. Only 42 spacious sites on 100 acres. That means no constant stream of strangers driving through. Speed is naturally low. Pathways are wide. Kids can run, bike, and explore without dodging Golf carts whipping around corners.
Room to Be Kids
At The Point, your kids won't outgrow the space in a weekend. That's important because it means a kid who discovers fireflies at age five can still find them at age twelve — and still feel like The Point is their place.
Fishing Ponds & Outdoor Exploration
Three catch-and-release fishing ponds give kids a real taste of farm life. They learn patience, they learn how to hold a fish without getting a hook in their finger, and they learn that quiet mornings on a dock produce better stories than any screen time.
Beyond the ponds, we have acres of fields, tree lines, and open space perfect for exploring. We encourage kids to roam, as long as they're back for dinner.
Coming Soon: The Playground
We are finalizing plans for a proper playground — think swings, a slide, a climbing structure, and the kind of space where kids can make friends within five minutes of arriving. This is one of the highest priorities for us because I want my own kids to have a spot they claim as theirs.
If you're visiting before it's finished, don't worry — there's plenty of open ground for tag, bike races, and fort-building in the meantime.
